Yay! No More Technical Issues!

Hazaah!! Our website is back to normal! What a crazy time we’ve had! On Thanksgiving night, after going over everything to make sure all was set for our Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday sales, we discovered that we could not access our website. We could access it to make changes but when we typed WWW.edenspureherbals.com , it was as if the website didn’t exist.

At first we thought it was an isolated issue but over that weekend, we were contacted by four different people, all with one particular internet provider, who couldn’t access our site. Those beloved four found other ways to purchase from us. We know there were probably others but let’s just not think about that, OK?? 🙂 Instead, let’s think about some good stuff.  Now that the issue has been resolved and we discovered that we exceeded our goals for our first month as Eden’s Pure Herbals, we’re celebrating!

Celebrating with sparkling cider, cheese, grapes and a side of cute baby face…

We can’t thank you enough for hanging in there with us and supporting us.  We think this calls for more discounts! On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, December 10th, 11th & 12th, use this code, PRIML1S9J5XA and get $5 off your order, plus additional possible discounts, depending on what you order. 😉

P.S. We did another vending event on Saturday and that too was very successful and fun!  We had a fabulous time, meeting people and I (Patrice) even got on the mic and did some karaoke!  One guy said I should be singing instead of selling our products, I just smiled but thought about how fortunate I am in that I can do it all!  No limits for me!  I hope you’ll not allow anyone to box you into doing “that one thing” either. Why not use all of your gifts and talents?  I’ve always been a little irked by the “jack of all trades, master of none” adage.  There are people who can do many things quite well, I’m living proof of that fact.  How about you?

Holy Discounts!! (Batman)

First, I (Patrice) have to say, the Batman reference in the title was sheer compulsion, nothing more.  I don’t like Batman at all. The way he speaks grates on my nerves. I don’t understand the pseudo sexy, wispy, whisper thing he tends to love doing.  He sounds stupid. The issue is, when the lyrics of a song, a slogan, or title fit a situation, I feel compelled to insert it.

I (Jaiela) like Batman,  especially the older version with the ((WHAM!)) ((POW!))’s, underwear on the outside, and Batman’s drawn on eyebrows.

Those were the good ol’ days. 🙂 Yes, the good old days when Jaiela, and I weren’t even born, lol!  Jaiela loves old movies and shows.  It’s really cool to see how excited she gets over the classics.

Know what else grates on my nerbs (as my 7 year old says, lol)? Holiday events, “restaurants”, and potluck dinners where the people preparing the food refuse to actually cook the food.  It’s all prepackaged stuff with God knows what in the ingredients.  I’m always genuinely shocked that some people don’t/won’t cook.  Now, I know this is all coming from a homeschool mom but wait, no, I’m a homeschool mom!! Of four!!  I get *no* time off, I do speaking events, singing events (coloratura soprano here, woot woot!), homeschool activities, church activities, doula work, placenta encapsulation (yeah, I know…) and my oldest and I run this really neat herbal business, making all the products ourselves so I know what busy is, and, we cook our food.

I think it’s sad when a homecooked meal becomes a commodity and the norm is the prepackaged junk that fills the inner aisles of supermarkets. (Shop the perimeter folks!) Don’t you deserve more than the occasional homecooked meal?  I think you do. We’ve started back up on a bit of bread eating which reminds me that I need to get going on my sourdough starter again because I let it go. 😦  There’s nothing like fresh, homemade sourdough bread.  I could kick myself for letting my starter die. (((sigh))) I won’t though, because I really like myself.

Anyway, on to the discounts!  With Thanksgiving, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday all days away, we thought we’d offer greater discounts on the latter two days.  So, on Small Business Saturday, November 29, 2014 use the code TKAGJ5GADJOE and get 30% off your order.  On Cyber Monday, December 1, 2014, use the code 25QSNX28HJ5X  and get free shipping on all orders.

That’s it for now!  Happy Thanksgiving!! (EAT REAL FOOD)

Weekly Check-In

We hope this blog post finds you all cozy and snug where ever you are today.  As we type this, it’s drizzling outside, there’s a chill in the air.  It’s the kind of weather that’s nice when you don’t have to go out. Great for hot tea, long baths and napping. Actually, that sounds like a good plan for the rest of the day.  We made up a few exclusive items and sold them at the craft fair at Fabricland- a cold and flu relief tea blend, and a winter bath salts blend.  We’ll definitely make some of the bath salts up for ourselves and use them, they smell great and have lots of healthy, detoxifying ingredients in them.

Speaking of the craft fair, it went pretty well.  We’re seeing a trend…  Even when we do vending events where the turn out is lower than expected, we still do quite well with the crowd that attends.  That’s a blessing and great confirmation for us.  Here’s a not so great picture of Jaiela at our table.  We got too busy to get a really good shot- which is a good “problem” to have if you ask us. 🙂

Our Podcast with GNOWFGLINS

We are so thrilled! Orders are coming in, we’re pumping them right out, and, we have a big event coming up this weekend at the Fabricland in North Plainfield.  Come visit us if you’re in town!

What’s more, we had a ball doing our first podcast, and, it’s out now!  So, this week, we just wanted to share the podcast we did with Wardeh of GNOWFGLINS with you.  Click here to listen to the podcast and enter the giveaway!
EPH on GNOWFGLINS

We’re open now… What’s Next?

Now that our opening is behind us, what’s next?  Well, besides the ever changing nature of the bars of soap on our curing racks, we actually have other plans and events in the works and we’re excited!  First, we have to say a huge thank you, thank you, thank you, to all our pre- launch customers. Your support means the world to us.  We can’t thank you enough for helping us work through the kinks, but, we will do what we can, so look out for an email from us in a few weeks that will include a special gift for being among our first customers.  (This is for everyone who shopped with us before October 28th, 2014)

We recently had a ball with Wardeh of Traditional Cooking School, also lovingly known as GNOWFGLINS (God’s natural, organic whole foods, grown locally, in season).  That podcast will air this week on November 7, 2014, so look out for that and definitely check out GNOWFGLINS. We’ve been members for the past few years, and seriously, the food we make would make somebody hurt themselves, and, the best part about that is that it’s not just good for you, it’s great for you! There’s not too much we don’t know how to make ourselves around here. We don’t just make all of skincare, haircare products and laundry powder… I’m talking everything down to crackers, mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, peanut butter, chicken stock, to name a few.  Quick, easy stuff too, for those who think they could never make the time to do these things. Plus, think about it, how much is your health worth to you?  One of my midwives likes to say, something along the lines of, “You can choose to pay now (for good whole foods), or pay later (for all that comes with declining health).” My father in law used to say that I live and eat as if I want to live forever.  That’s not true.  It would tear my heart to see everyone around me go.  I just want to live a quality life while I’m here.  I don’t want to be sick when I know I don’t have to be sick.  The moral of the story is, eat real food, leave the junk alone. There’s no such thing as junk food, it’s either food or it’s junk. 🙂

Another exciting event we’re looking forward to is coming up on the 15th of November at the Fabricland in North Plainfield, (NJ). It’s the 2nd annual Fabricland Craft Fair. We got a message from a friend saying that they were in need of a vendor who made soap and, what do you know? We make soap! So we called the store.  They guy was thrilled that we called and said that a woman had just asked him if they had a soap making vendor yet and then the phone rang with us on the other end. 🙂  We’re excited to go and meet people, get our brand out there and show off our new logo and product labels.  For those who have made purchases with us, how do you like our logo and labels?

Then, on December 6, 2014, we will participate in a holiday bazaar at a local church.  So, there are lots of extra soap making going on in preparation for these events as well as our online sales on Ebay, Etsy, and our website.

That’s not all, we have more (bigger) news in the coming weeks but that’s all we’re sharing for now.  In the meantime, please consider helping us out by spreading the word about Eden’s Pure Herbals.  When someone you refer to us enters your name and email in the comment section during the ordering process, you can earn money towards free products for yourself.

We’ll leave you with our newest product review that was entered on our Facebook page just yesterday.

“I am so pleasantly surprised at how amazingly well the healing salve actually heals. I tripped up a curb Tuesday (yup, I really did) and skinned my knee pretty bad. I got home, cleaned it, put Neosporin on it and a big bandage. I have been changing the bandage with Neosporin 2 times a day with no improvement, none! It was still so raw. This morning, I remembered reading that your salve was a replacement for Neosporin and I used it instead with my big bandage. I just took it off to get in the shower and I was amazed at the healing that took place in just 1 day!!!! I showed my husband and he said it’s like the ointment they used in the hunger games movie! Thank you for making this wonderful salve, I can’t wait to see how in looks in the morning.” AG

Grand Opening Today!!

We’re so excited! We did a few test runs over the weekend, had a rocky start with all the funky kinks, but we’re good now and ready to go! We have fantastic herbal lotions, bar soap, lip balm, and salve, just waiting for your perusal.

So… um, why are you still here?  Go! Check out our shop!

And, while you’re at it, use this code to get an additional 10% off your entire order until October 31, 2014- 8EBRYAQORB1I

Product highlight: Herbal Healing Salve

Hi, Jaiela here!  This week we’re featuring our Herbal Healing Salve.

For those of you that may not know, a salve is an ointment used for healing various skin conditions.  Around the colder time of year I use it for eczema breakouts.

My family has had to use salve for all sorts of things.  Burns, cuts, scrapes, rashes, and even gashes.  Sorry for the imagery but, one time, my little sister fell and got a deep cut right underneath her eye.  We put salve on it to stop the bleeding, and to close up the wound.  It’s healed up so much that now it just looks like she has a dimple under her eye. The salve has worked extremely well for us, and others.

Another instance, a few years ago, a friend of mine had an ingrown toenail, so she couldn’t dance on pointe with me and the rest of the class.  In attempt to make good use of the tons of empty Lip Medex containers lying around the house, I filled them with salve to put in my purse.   (My mom wasn’t joking, she really had a thing for that stuff, at least until we started making our own lip balm).

So I gave my friend the salve, and the very next week when I saw her again, she told me that a day after she put on the “green glop” I gave her, she noticed her ingrown toenail had popped right out!

20140911_182036Before having radiation treatments, I was given some of the Herbal Healing Salve to use on the spot where they would administer the treatments.  I used it every day.  One day, during my doctor’s visit, I noticed my doctor carefully examining me with a puzzled look on her face.  She was looking for evidence of burning from the treatments and could not find any at all.  The Herbal Healing Salve helped me to escape some of the trauma that accompanies radiation treatments. KJ

That was all thanks to one ingredient, one of my favorite herbs called Plantain.
And no, not the banana. Although those are really good.           image

Bet you thought this was a weed didn’t you?

Because one of plantains abilities is to draw out, it works wonders with mosquito bites, bee and wasp stings, and ingrown toenails.  Add in the benifits of all the other herbs and oils that are in the salve, and you’ll be ready to combat whatever skin problems come your way!

That’s all for now.  Look out for next weeks product highlight where we’ll discuss lotion.

Product Highlight: Muscle Lotion & Menthol Salve!

I (Patrice) have always thought of myself as a die-hard Spring season loving girl but as I sit here, snuggled on my bed, nursing my now 11 month old son, typing on my laptop, chill in the air, light rain outside my window, I realize, Autumn is really growing on me. It’s quite lovely.  I’m already making soups, chili and will soon make a big batch of apple sauce and pies with apples from our next door neighbors tree. Don’t tell my physical trainer Tatyana about the pies- I’ve lost 22lbs working with her since June. 🙂

Ok, ok, I’m getting sidetracked…this isn’t why I’m writing. Last week, we promised to come to you each week highlighting a product or two leading up to our launch date.  Our hope is that by the time we launch, you will be more knowledgeable about what we offer, why we offer it and how it can help you.

First, let’s get this out of the way…  What you put on your skin, goes into your skin.  It’s the largest organ you’ve got and it’s important to steer clear of toxic and deadly ingredients that cause a myriad of health issues.  Our commitment to you is to never add anything we wouldn’t put in or on our bodies into our products.  And, just so you know, we are sooo far past things like Vicks, and Vaseline, it ain’t even funny.  Here’s a visual of ingredients to avoid putting on, thus in, your skin. (Click to enlarge image)

With that in mind, this week, we highlight two similar products- our Muscle Lotion and Menthol Salve.

20140911_181458-2
20140911_182036

The biggest difference between these two products is distilled water.  Water produces the lotion form and no water produces the salve form. (Detailed ingredients will be listed on the website and products) Both are awesome for many types of pain- headaches, muscle spasms, achy, overworked muscles, bruises and more.  Both will produce a cool/tingling sensation when rubbed on the skin- think Icy/Hot.

When dealing with things like chest congestion or any localized pain, we reach for the Menthol salve.  When I come home from working out with Taty, I shower and reach for the Muscle Lotion knowing that even my fingernails might be sore soon. Which will work best for you is simply a matter of preference for lotion or salve.  We love ’em both!

That’s it for this week!  I’ll leave you with a product testimonial from our earliest days of making these two products.  Note- this was before we started to add menthol, which is responsible for the icy/hot feeling.

“When I tried the Happy Muscle Lotion for my muscle spasms, I wasn’t sure it would help.  When I used it, I expected to feel an Icy Hot/Ben Gay type of feeling but I felt nothing and dismissed it.  It wasn’t until later that I suddenly realized I wasn’t in any more pain.” JS
